Will Rock Opera make a return?

My new novel, "Obama Jones & The Logic Bomb" is basically a futuristic retelling of RO; the story I'm writing on this blog will eventually have uploads of old black and white and unpublished(by Heavy Metal)episodes of RO. And I hope to reissue the full color HM run of RO--nearly 7 years worth--soon. But new stuff? I'm too old!

If I may respectfully disagree with the author...

Can't help feeling you're doing OJ a slight injustice describing it as a retelling of RO. I'm about a quarter of the way through and while it has the same unique voice of the Rod Kierkegaard of a quarter century ago – as brilliantly, drolly deadpan as ever – and the mad collagist's sense of a ludic, hyper-real, absurdist modernity, it seems to me clearly a stand-alone work with its own narrative.

You can disagree with me like that any time you like, John ;)

As a reward, here's the scan I promised you:

Thanks, Rod. That scan actually felt a bit like being given a fix of some sort. Great to see an early iteration of the Black Pandas, who eventually made it into my favourite ever episode of RO.

No comments section below the great lost RO episodes?

I'm chortling with glee at the second one. Fab.

Glad to see your stuff on the web Rod! Long time fan of your work since the olden days of Heavy Metal.
The older, non-HM stuff - all new to my eyes - is amazing! I'd nearly forgotten how poetic your strips are.
Looking forward to getting Obama Jones.

Thanks Uglyradio! I love your site, too--especially the J. G. Ballard special.
